Control Glare Before You Add More Outdoor Flood Light Output

Direct view of the LED source is a common cause of discomfort and light trespass. Aim fixtures toward the task area and away from windows, neighboring yards, road users, and normal sightlines. Hyperlite Mars knuckle and trunnion mounts can be adjusted from 0° to 180°, allowing the installer to refine the direction after dark. Knuckle mounts suit compact directional adjustment, while trunnion mounts provide a stable bracket for broader fixtures. The HPFD01 range also lists yoke and slipfitter options at selected wattages. Verify the exact mount before ordering. The selected Mars models are AC 120V only, while the HPFD01 Series accepts 120–277V. Confirm the circuit, controls, mounting surface, and local requirements, and involve a qualified electrician when the project is outside your experience.

Use Dusk-to-Dawn Controls Where Automatic Operation Helps

A photocell can remove the need to switch exterior lights manually. The Mars 11,000-lumen model offers a photocell option, while the HPFD01 Series includes an integrated photocell. Place and aim the sensor so the fixture's own light, a streetlight, or a nearby wall light does not confuse the day/night reading. Test the control at the actual mounting location before treating the installation as complete.

Automatic operation is not the same as motion activation. If you need occupancy-based control, confirm sensor compatibility and the exact control behavior before purchase. For fixed schedules, building automation, or switched circuits, the non-photocell Mars option may provide a simpler fit.

The selected Mars flood lights are rated IP65 and use die-cast aluminum housings. These models are designed to operate in temperatures from -40°F to 122°F and are covered by a 24-month warranty. The HPFD01 Series is also IP65 rated and lists UL/cUL certification, DLC 5.1 Premium qualification, an estimated 50,000-hour LED lifespan based on LM-80 and TM-21 calculations, and a five-year warranty.
