Step 1: Confirm Power SupplyType

Firstly, you need to confirm the power supply type required for your high bay LED lights. Most LED lights can use either 120V or 277V power supplies, but certain models may require other power supply types. Check the specifications of your fixtures to confirm the required power supply type.

Step 2: Prepare Work Area

During the installation process, ensure that the power is disconnected to avoid the risk of electric shock. Prepare the necessary tools and materials, including screwdrivers, wire strippers, wire nuts, electrical tape, etc.

When installing high bay LED lights, understanding the current requirements of each fixture is crucial for selecting the appropriate circuit breaker. Based on the provided input voltage range (120 to 277 volts) and the voltage being used, you can calculate the amperage draw for each light using the following formula:

The formula to get amps is:
Amperage (amps) = Wattage (w) / Voltage (v)

For example, if your voltage
is 120 volts, each 100-watt light will draw 0.83 amps of current. Therefore, if
you install 8 such fixtures, the total current draw will be 6.67 amps.

It's typically recommended to use 80% of the rated amperage when selecting a circuit breaker to ensure safety. For example, if you choose to use a 15-amp circuit breaker, it's advisable to only use a load of 12 amps.Similarly, if you select a 20-amp circuit breaker, it's recommended to only use a load of 16 amps.

Step 3: Connect Power Lines

Based on the power supply type of your LED lights, connect the appropriate power lines. For 120V power, connect the black (hot) and white (neutral) wires to the corresponding terminals in the electrical box. For 277V power, connect the black (hot) and grey (neutral) wires to the corresponding terminals in the electrical box.

Connect the green or bare copper ground wire to the grounding terminal in the electrical box. This is crucial to ensure the electrical circuit is properly grounded.

There are two regular ways of
installation.

First one:

Lights can be connected at
most to 800W in this way, and also dimmer can be used as a switch.

Second way:

In this way the dimmer doesn't serve as a switch, lights will not be turned off completely, because our power is 1-10v instead of 0-10v, even if the dimmer is at its lowest value,the light will be slight, but you can connect around 16 lights.

Step 5: Connect Light Fixtures

Follow the specific installation requirements of your LED lights to connect them to the electrical box. Typically, this involves connecting the power lines of the fixtures to the corresponding terminals in the electrical box and ensuring proper insulation with electrical tape.

Step 6: Install Light Fixtures

Before re-energizing, ensure all connections are correct and secure. Turn on the power and test the lights to ensure they are functioning properly. Debug as necessary, such as adjusting the angle or direction of the fixtures.
